Pelvic Health Beyond Birth
Pelvic health concerns can affect women at any stage of life. While pregnancy and childbirth can lead to specific issues, general pelvic health conditions—such as incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, or pelvic floor weakness—are common and can impact women outside of the maternal context. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is crucial in treating and managing these conditions, helping you regain control and improve overall quality of life.
What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy?
Pelvic health physiotherapy focuses on treating conditions affecting the pelvic floor, muscles, ligaments, and tissues in the pelvic region. It helps restore pelvic floor function, which is vital for bladder and bowel control, sexual health, and overall core stability.
Our Women’s Health Services Include:
- Prolapse assessment, treatment, and management
- Incontinence treatment and management
- Bladder and bowel dysfunction care
- Management of pelvic pain and discomfort
- Pelvic floor retraining programs
- Overactive pelvic floor treatment
- Postnatal check-ups, rehabilitation, and recovery
- Rehabilitation following gynaecological surgeries
- Clinical Pilates and focused Pre and Postnatal Pilates
What to Expect at Your Appointment:
At your first appointment at Motion Health Albany, your Physiotherapist Courtney will:
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of your medical history, including fluid intake, bladder and bowel function, pelvic pain, sexual health, and relevant medical or gynaecological history.
- Perform a physical examination, which may include an internal vaginal exam (with your consent) to assess pelvic floor function.
Whether you’re recovering from a maternal birth injury or seeking treatment for general pelvic health concerns, Motion Health Albany is here to help you feel confident and strong.
